What earns a place on the counter
A scale, a tamper that fits the basket, and a jug if you steam milk. Almost everything else can wait until the machine and the grinder are honest.
This page is a guide, not a shop. There is no sample price table, because a fictional tamper with a made-up John Lewis price would teach the wrong habit. When accessories are priced, they will use the same lowest-in-stock headline as the machines, and a merit rank that cannot see a programme.
- Scales that respond quickly enough to watch a shot, and that live next to the grinder.
- A tamper that matches the basket, not a smaller one that feels fine until the channel.
- A jug, if you drink milk. Skip it if you do not.
- Water you would drink. Espresso is mostly water. A jug filter is often enough at home.
Distributor tools, colour-matched knobs and a second tamper mat are hobbies. They are not the ranking.
